Although the Semester at Sea Spring 2013 voyage is complete, we still have three weeks of travelling before we get home! Today we flew from Barcelona to Gatwick and then took a coach to Southampton. The whole trip went amazingly smooth. We were a little concerned about the weight of our luggage. We are used to flying Delta, which treats us quite well due to our loyalty status, but for this trip we flew British Airways. When we checked in last night they offered an upgrade for less than we expected in excess baggage fees and the bagage allowance for Club Europe was about what we needed 🙂
Once we arrived in Gatwick we took the National Express to Southampton. Could not have been easier. As an added bonus we drove through many of the seaside towns we used to frequent when we lived in the UK. It was like being home. The coach dropped us off just a couple blocks from our hotel. We are staying at new brand for us – Premier Inn – so far it seems perfect: clean, generous sized rooms, and great people.
